Look beyond the number. Review the actual order or referral.
Look for wording such as:
A driver can learn defensive-driving techniques, crash-prevention principles, traffic laws, and safer operating practices.
That education helps build the knowledge needed to recognize and reduce risk.
Knowing a rule is not always the same thing as consistently making a safer choice. A driver may know that speeding, following too closely, or driving aggressively creates risk and still make those decisions.
Specialized reckless/aggressive education can focus more deeply on those attitudes, reactions, emotions, and choices.
If you already completed an acceptable 8-hour Driver Improvement course, keep the certificate and tell the person or authority responsible for the current requirement.
Online options may be available. The more important question is whether online completion is accepted for the purpose for which you are taking the program.
First determine the correct program. Then determine which delivery format is acceptable. Convenience should not override the actual requirement.
